The story of Edge General Store

Edge has been here since the 1870s. Dr. John Edge founded the community, and it still carries his name.

Our building went up in 1907 as the store and post office for Edge. Then the doors closed for nearly 40 years.

Teresa is from Edge. In 2007, she and Ron opened the doors again.

These days Ron runs the grill, and Teresa's sister, Kathy Montoya, bakes the pies. Come by and pull up a chair.

  • Southern Living listed us among general stores in the South to visit, in March 2023.
  • The Texas Historical Commission dedicated a marker for the Edge Community in April 2023. It honors the community, not the store itself.
