Visiting Edge General Store
What are your hours?
Monday 10 am to 2 pm. Tuesday to Saturday 10 am to 7 pm. Closed Sunday. During pumpkin patch season, the patch keeps its own hours, including Sunday noon to 4 pm. Holiday hours change every year, and we post them on Facebook and Instagram.
Are you open Sunday and Monday?

Is the store in Bryan?
We are in the community of Edge, in Brazos County, on FM 974, about 25 minutes north of Bryan. Edge has no ZIP code of its own, so our mailing address says Hearne: 7250 Edge Cut Off Road, Hearne, TX 77859.
How far is it from College Station?
About 30 minutes from Texas A&M. We are on FM 974, about 25 minutes north of Bryan.
Do you take cards?
Yes. We take cards and cash.
Is there a restroom?
Yes, there is a restroom for customers. It is not ADA accessible.
Can I bring my dog?
Service dogs only. Please leave pets at home.
Where can we sit?
There is a dining room inside and picnic tables outside.
Is it good for kids?
Yes. Kids like the store cats on the porch and the picnic tables out back. The duck pond is fenced off, so you can see the ducks from the patch or the picnic tables.
How old is the store?
The building dates to 1907, when it was the store and post office for Edge. It sat closed for nearly 40 years, and Teresa and Ron reopened it in 2007.

Menu
What is on the menu?
Burgers, sandwiches, salads, soft serve, shakes and homemade pies, plus chicken fried steak on Friday nights (catfish during Lent) and a Saturday night special that changes every week.
Do you have a kids meal?
We do not have a separate kids meal. The menu has grilled cheese, burgers and soft serve.
Can I order takeout or call ahead?
Yes. We do dine-in and takeout, and you can call ahead at (979) 589-3539.

What is on Friday and Saturday nights?
Friday night is chicken fried steak with mashed potatoes, green beans and country gravy, except during Lent, when Friday is catfish. The Saturday night special changes every week.
Are there gluten-free options?
We offer gluten-free buns for any burger or sandwich. Our kitchen is not celiac safe.
Do you have catfish?
Yes, on Fridays during Lent, in place of chicken fried steak. In 2027 that is Friday, February 12 through Friday, March 26.

What is the Edge Burger?
Our regular hamburger: local beef, our own seasonings and, in Teresa's words, a lot of love.
Do you have gluten-free buns?
We offer gluten-free buns for any burger or sandwich. Our kitchen is not celiac safe.
Can I order burgers to go?
Yes. Dine-in and takeout, and you can call ahead at (979) 589-3539.
Can I get my burger on a jalapeño bun?
Yes, any day we are open.
What shake flavors do you have?
Strawberry, Oreo, Butterfinger, vanilla and chocolate.
Do you have ice cream?
Yes. Soft serve in a cone or cup, plus shakes. Toppings are chocolate, strawberry, Oreo and Butterfinger.
Chicken fried steak
What is the difference between chicken fried and country fried steak?
Chicken fried steak usually comes with white, peppery cream gravy, and country fried steak more often with brown gravy. Ours is chicken fried steak with country gravy.
Can I get chicken fried steak to go?
Yes. Call ahead at (979) 589-3539 on a Friday and pick it up.
When do you serve chicken fried steak?
Friday nights, except during Lent, when Friday is catfish.
What comes with the chicken fried steak?

Is there live music?

Do you host weddings and private parties?
Yes. We host weddings in our chapel, plus rehearsal dinners and private parties. See our weddings and parties page, or call (979) 589-3539 to ask about your date.
Can the kids see Santa or the Easter Bunny?
Yes. We host pancakes and pictures with Santa at Christmas and with the Easter Bunny at Easter. We post the dates on Facebook and Instagram.

Do you host weddings?
Yes. Ceremonies are held in our chapel behind the store. We also host rehearsal dinners and private parties. Call (979) 589-3539 to ask about your date.
How many guests can you host?
About 75 to 150 guests for the whole event. The chapel holds 75 for the ceremony.
Do you have wedding packages?
Yes. With our reception package, your reception is at The Pavilion at Edge, our event center. Every wedding is planned around you, so call (979) 589-3539 to ask what is included.
Do you cater somewhere else?
Yes. Off-site catering is drop-off only for now, without serving staff. Call (979) 589-3539 to plan it.
How far is it from Bryan and College Station?

Pumpkin Patch
Is there a hayride or corn maze?
Not right now. The patch is for walking, picking pumpkins and watching the ducks from across the fence.
Is the pumpkin patch free?
Yes. Walking the patch is free.
When does the pumpkin patch open and close?
This season the patch is open through Saturday, October 31: Monday noon to 2 pm, Tuesday to Saturday 11 am to 7 pm, and Sunday noon to 4 pm.
Can we buy pumpkins?
Yes. Pick out the pumpkins you want and pay for them at the store.
Is it a good spot for photos or a date?
Yes. The patch, the porch cats and the picnic tables make an easy backdrop, and you can see the ducks from the patch.
Scarecrow Stroll
How do I enter the Scarecrow Stroll?
Entries for 2026 closed on September 19, and entry is free. We will post next season's rules and entry form on Facebook and Instagram.
How does scarecrow voting work?
You vote for your favorite with a handwritten note at the patch.
Christmas in the Patch
What is Christmas in the Patch, and when is it?
Our free December event: Christmas lights out in the patch. Dates are to be announced. Watch Facebook and Instagram.
Is Santa at the store?
Yes. Santa comes to the store at Christmas for pancakes and pictures. We post the dates on Facebook and Instagram.
Are there Christmas lights?
Yes. Christmas in the Patch lights up the patch, and it is free. We will post this year's dates on Facebook and Instagram.

When is the Easter Bunny at the store?
At Easter. We post the dates on Facebook and Instagram.
Can we take pictures with the Easter Bunny?
Yes. Bring your camera. There are pancakes too.

Gift shop
What kind of gifts do you have?
All kinds of one-of-a-kind finds, plus boutique clothing, home decor, and our own sauces and canned goods. What is on the shelves changes all the time, so come browse or call (979) 589-3539 to ask what is in.
Do you sell groceries?
No. We do not carry everyday grocery items. Our shop has boutique clothing, home decor, and our own sauces and canned goods.
Can you ship gifts?
Not right now. Everything in the gift shop is sold at the store, and whole pies are pickup only.
Pies
What pies do you make?
Our pies are baked by Kathy Montoya, Teresa's sister: chocolate, lemon ice box, peanut butter, coconut, strawberry, banana pudding, pumpkin cream, strawberry lemon and German chocolate, plus a rotating assortment of others.
Can I order a whole pie and pick it up?
Yes. Call (979) 589-3539 a week ahead, then pick it up at the store.
Can I order pies for Thanksgiving or Christmas?
Yes. Call (979) 589-3539 at least a week before the holiday, then pick them up at the store.
Do you deliver or ship pies?
No. Pies are pickup only at the store.
